Privacy Policy — SeHomeWall
Last updated: August 12, 2026
1. Who is responsible for this app
SeHomeWall is developed and maintained by an independent individual developer. Privacy-related questions can be sent to the email address listed in the "Contact" section below.
2. What data the app processes
SeHomeWall acts as a control panel for your own Home Assistant system. The table below shows which permissions it uses and why.
| Permission / data | What it's used for | Where it goes |
|---|---|---|
| Home Assistant server address, username, password/token | Connecting to your own Home Assistant server, controlling your smart home devices | Stored only locally on the device (encrypted storage, Android Keystore). Sent only to the server address you entered yourself — never to the developer. |
| Tablet's front camera | Optional presence detection (recognizing that someone approached the tablet) to wake the screensaver. Processing happens ENTIRELY on the device (ML Kit). | Nowhere. Images are not stored, transmitted, or shared — analyzed "live" and discarded immediately. The feature is disabled by default and must be turned on manually in settings. |
| Microphone | Two-way talk with a Reolink camera/doorbell (intercom feature) | Audio goes directly to your own Reolink device on your local network. Never used without you explicitly tapping the microphone button. |
| Photos from the device gallery | Choosing your own photo as an avatar for a "Person" tile on the dashboard | The selected photo is copied into the app's private storage on the same device. It is never uploaded anywhere else. |
| Dashboard layout (tile placement, colors, names) | Personalizing the dashboard | Stored locally on the device. You can manually export a backup to a file — you then decide where that file goes. |
| Camera video (live preview) | Displaying a live preview from your own cameras connected via Home Assistant / Reolink | The video stream flows directly between your server/camera and the tablet, on your local network. It is not stored or sent to the developer. |
3. What the app does NOT do
- It does not have any server or backend of its own — there is nowhere to sign in to except your own Home Assistant.
- It contains no advertising.
- It contains no analytics or tracking tools (no Google Analytics, Firebase Analytics, etc.).
- It does not sell or share data with any third parties.
- It does not create a user account — there is no sign-up or login to anything other than your own Home Assistant.
- Android's automatic backup is deliberately disabled — your login details are never included in a phone/tablet cloud backup.
4. Data storage and deletion
All the data described above is stored only locally, on the device the app is installed on. Uninstalling the app permanently removes this data from the device. If you previously exported a manual backup of your dashboard layout to a file, that file stays wherever you saved it — you delete it yourself.
5. Children
SeHomeWall is not directed at children and is not designed to knowingly collect data from anyone under 13. The app has no sign-up or age-identification mechanism, since it does not collect any personal data beyond what is described above, all of which is processed locally.
6. Changes to this policy
If the app's scope changes (e.g. new features requiring new permissions are added), this page will be updated and the date at the top will change. Please check back from time to time.
